ER Microsensor to receive grant money from Cleveland State University’s $23.8 million to develop microsensors

Cleveland, OH (December 15, 2006)  … ER Microsensor, as one of 32 collaborators with the Cleveland State University (CSU) was awarded $23.8 million from the State of Ohio Third Frontier Commission. This grant money will help establish a Sensor Systems Engineering Center to develop sensors, conduct sensor testing, and showcase northeast Ohio as a center for sensor innovation.

This grant is just one of six projects awarded, as announced by Governor Bob Taft today at a press conference at the Cleveland State University. Northeast Ohio will receive $113 million in all from the Third Frontier Commission. This grant money will help establish the region as a hub for biotech innovation including a Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center and the Cleveland State University Sensor Systems Engineering Center to name a few.

C. William King, President and CEO of ER Microsensor, shared “We are honored and excited to be a part of such an amazing project. We will use our portion of the grant to develop and commercialize new and novel microsensors for our environmental water monitoring and air quality monitoring businesses.  In addition the grant will enable the creation of test facilities at CSU that we can utilize for future product development.”

This project will begin in 2007.
